Plushpedia Privacy Policy

Plushpedia lets you photograph a stuffed animal and get a friendly description, type, and fun facts. Plain version: we don't have accounts, we don't track you, and we don't keep the photos you scan. (The only photos we store are snapshots you explicitly choose to Share — and those auto-delete; details below.)

What we process

• Photos you scan. When you scan a plushie, the photo is sent to the Plushpedia backend, which forwards it to our AI provider (Anthropic) to identify the toy and write its description. The photo is used only to generate that result and is not stored on our servers or used to train models.
• An anonymous app ID. The app creates a random identifier stored on your device to count your free daily scans and remember your subscription status. It is not your name, email, or a hardware/advertising identifier, and it isn't linked to your real-world identity.
• Your collection. Plushies you save are stored only on your device. They're never uploaded to us and are removed if you delete the app.
• Sharing (only if you choose). When you tap Share, a snapshot of what you're sharing — including the photo — is uploaded and viewable at an unguessable, unlisted link. Shared snapshots are stored on our servers and are automatically deleted after 30 days, or sooner if you delete the share. If you never tap Share, nothing is uploaded.

Subscriptions & payments

Plushpedia Premium is an optional paid subscription. Payments are handled entirely by the platform you buy through — Apple (App Store), Google (Google Play), or Stripe (web). We never receive or store your card details. To deliver Premium we store your subscription status (active/expired and renewal date) plus a payment-processor reference (such as a Stripe customer ID) associated with the anonymous app ID above. If you restore a web subscription on a new device, the email you enter is used only to look up your subscription at that moment and isn't stored separately. On mobile, subscription status is managed through RevenueCat; on the web, through Stripe.

What we do NOT do

• No user accounts, logins, or profiles.
• No advertising, analytics, or third-party trackers.
• No selling or sharing of personal data.
• No location or contacts access; no hardware/advertising identifiers.

Permissions

Camera / Photos — used solely to capture or select the image you choose to scan, only when you tap to scan.

Third-party processors

• Anthropic — processes the scanned image to generate the description (privacy). We send only the image and receive back text.
• Apple / Google / Stripe — process subscription payments.
• RevenueCat — manages mobile subscription status (privacy).

Children's privacy

Plushpedia is designed to be family-friendly. It has no user accounts and doesn't require any personal information to use. The only data we process is described above: the photo you scan (not stored), an anonymous app ID, and — only if you use those features — a snapshot you choose to Share (auto-deleted after 30 days) and a subscription reference for Premium. We don't knowingly collect personal information beyond this. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy; the effective date above will change accordingly.
